Lasistudio Jan Torstensson Oy

is glassworks specialized in manufacturing glass items from recycled packaging glass. Items are made with traditional glassblowing methods. We manufacture mainly glasses and vases from bottles and jars. In our method bottles and jars are not melted in to glass, but their shape is used as a base to new item. According to Swedish research this way only ¼ of the energy is needed compared to manufacturing items from melted glass.

Most popular item we manufacture by this method is the HIK! glass. It was chosen as one of the years new products in Suomen Kädentaidot 2005 exhibition. HIK! glass has also been chosen to the permanent exhibition of The Finnish Glass Museum to represent 21st century serial production. Also our vase made from champagne bottle is in glass museums collection.

We also manufacture products from melted glass with traditional methods. As raw material we use crushed waste glass.
